Thursday randomness

-I know, randomness normally hits on a Tuesday, but there are too many life bits going on to wait that long

-Lucy’s top teeth are coming through! We can see them breaking through her top gums. She’s been remakably fussy in the evening and pulling at her ears again. When I spied the teeth the other day, my nipples shrunk inward in terror

-the teeth also explain the face rash Lucy’s been battling since last week (it started before the cereal, so we know it’s not an allergic reaction). My secret for keeping it under control? Breastmilk. I know, sounds gross, but it works. I smear it on her cheeks and chin and within hours it’s less raw. That stuff is super juice

-less runny cereal = more in baby’s mouth

-we’re starting sweet potato today

-the stanky solid food poop hit yesterday. While we were in a restaurant. And leaked all over Lucy’s onesie, pants and car seat. And for some reason there were no plastic bags in the diaper bag so her poopy clothes had to be wrapped up in that brown, hard paper towel and I was so flustered and sweating and changing her on a knee-high padded seat in a tiny bathroom and Lucy just lay there cooing and blowing raspberries, happily swaying her fat legs in the air. I almost flushed her down the toilet

-we’re going to the Durham Baby and Toddler Show in mid-September with the Babyville Mamas and Jen and Eirinn. Wanna come?

-Lucy suddenly rolls belly to back, back to belly effortlessley. I’ll lay her on the playmat, turn around the type an email, and suddenly she’s under my chair, grinning. I said to Jen in an email that I half expect to turn around and find her standing behind me

-in the late fall, Lucy and I will be taking some baby sign language classes with the great people from Wee Hands. Sara wrote to me about Wee Hands when I was still pregnant, and we recently reconnected. We can’t wait to meet Karen and write about our adventures. Maybe Lucy can learn the sign for poop so I can get some advance notice of her butt erruptions

We started Mia late on the sign language, but she picked it up immediately and it has been really great.

See the website http://www.weehands.com for classes in Durham. I think Carly and Lucy are coming to the Brooklin class at Helping Hands Daycare. Have fun!

It’s so beneficial doing sign lanquage with babies. The children I nannied before McKenna was born.Knew sign lanquage quite well.I was consistent with it everyday. McKenna knows it too..It’s wonderful having her communicate this way instead of getting grumpy (not that she ever does of course!!!LOL )
