When you need to just GET OUT…
…I’ve found the Pickering Town Centre to be a fabulous escape.
They’ve got some of the best family-diaper-boob-friendly washrooms I’ve found. The downstairs ones in the food court, especially, are great, with a nursing room, multiple changing areas, play centre for older kids and family washroom with wee toilets for tiny bums.
On long, frustrating, downright lonely days while on maternity leave, I’d go there to escape and see other big people. Adults not in diapers and tossing sippy cups and squealing over not being able to climb up a bookshelf. We’d grab a cheap meal in the foodcourt, then zoom through the mall — hopefully putting Miss Lucy Grumppants to sleep so I could longingly fondle purses and caress pretty bras my milky boobs would one day fit into.
Meeting other moms in the elevator and washrooms was a bonus, too. The mutual glazed, crazed look we shared was always comforting.
I haven’t spent as much time at the Oshawa Centre, but I’m told it’s family friendly, too. I’ve personally never liked the one-floor layout.
Do you have a favourite escape?
