Breaking baby news!

Lucy took her first steps today!

One towards me in the hallway downstairs, and another two from me to her jumper upstairs.

OK, now I’m ready to call herĀ a toddler…

Yay Lucy! Soon it’ll be 4, 5, 15 steps as she turns and runs the other way giggling :) It’s great fun – and just in time for the nice weather at the playground!

Get ready for lots of bumps and bruises as she learns to master this new skill. Don’t be afraid to let her fall, though; it’ll be good for her. Not only will she grow to be a tough little girl, she’ll also gain invaluable self confidence if you teach her that it’s ok to try things on her own. Babies are squishy and well-padded for good reason. Most of the time when babies and children cry after they fall, it’s because we make a big fuss, not because they are hurt. Tell her she’s ok, pick her up (or let her pick herself up), and she’ll be on her way.

Before I get a load of hate-mail: I don’t mean let her fall on concrete, or down the stairs, or into the sharp corner of a table. I just mean onto the nice, soft, carpeted floor.

    lol Jen O.

Like I always say, babies bounce.

Good girl Lucy, way to go! Carly, did it make your hear melt?

She’ll be running from you soon enough … now your real work begins.

She did melt my heart. Then continued to amaze us yesterday as two steps turned into 7 and 8 strung together. I figure by the end of this week in daycare she’ll probably be running!

I started my new job today, so am a little swamped. But will be back tomorrow.
