Tangent

Have you had to turn your furnace on? We have. I find it incredibly disturbing that on Thanksgiving weekend I was sitting at the dinner table in a tank top, yet three days later putting an extra blanket on the bed. And dressing Lucy in feetie pajamas.

Anyone else with a toddler notice that it becomes harder to find sleepers in size 2? Lucy, at 19.5 months, does not fit in size 24 months anymore, and retailers seem to think babies over 2 are, like, little girls or something requiring two-piece pajamas. Obviously I am in denial over how big The Goose is getting.

Every time I blink there is a new mom show happening. The Mamas and Chicks show is Fri. Oct. 26 in Oshawa, with a ton of retailers (including one of our faves, Sugar and Spice Bows). There’s even a cutest chick competition. Don’t forget to make the beautiful drive to Uxbridge on Nov. 3 for the Mompreneur Market and come say hi!

Speaking of mompreneur, I’m struggling with new, increased hours at work. One of the payoffs to working from home was having time to putter around the house, work on this site, shop — generally pretend like I was a Stepford Wife for a few hours a week. But now my only free day is Friday, and Lucy is home with me. Bless her, I love her to bits, but I need/want to focus on her when she’s home, not soap scum on the bathroom sink or trying to find a new pair of glasses. I honestly do not know how full-time, out-of-the-house working moms do it. Kudos to all of you.

That’s why Wednesday nights are so important, no matter how hard it is to get out of the house some times after a long day. We just chatted about this the other day, how it’d be so easy to just curl up on the couch to watch TV or read a good book. But once we’re all together, it’s 100% better than another night in front of the boobtoob, and the energized, giggly feeling after a few hours of estrogen lasts for days and days. Tonight it’s special edition Mom’s Night Out: We’re heading to Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry. And we’re all going to blow $20! Paaaar-tay. Come join us!

teethies.jpgThe last time I went to GBH was the night of my 19th birthday (almost a DECADE ago!). My friend Rob took me, and I remember being thrilled at not getting carded at the door. The casino didn’t have slots back then, at least not that we found, so we decided to play blackjack. On a Wednesday night, when only the $5 bet tables were open, after four lightening-fast hands, my money was gone in about three minutes. It was very anti-climatic.

And heeeeere’s Lucy! Showing off her teethies. In the to-die-for vest I got at the DRPMOBA sale for $2!

I have found feet jams at Walmart in Florida. Nice fleece ones with no slide stuff on the feet made by Gerber. So far I have up to size 4t, that’s what my almost 4 year old wears. Going back this Nov/Dec and can hopefully find more in bigger sizes.
I found it very odd that I found them in Florida where the winters aren’t that cold and not here in TO where it’s freezing in the winter.

Hope you enjoy your visit to Blue Heron. Having won $10,000 on a dollar machine and a few thousand on quarter machines, someone might just be real lucky. Not to mention there is a dollar machine worth over 4 1/2 million, last won in February and just ripe for the picking.

I will check next week in the U.S.
Funny about this because Carly you wore Dr. Denton P.J.’s with feet until you were 4 or 5.

did you try The Children’s Place?

They have up to 3x in footies.

Zellers has the convertable footies which are good too (i.e., you can wear it cuffed or fold it over the toe and have it enclosed).

Sears carries them up to 4T from what i can see on their site.

    hope that helps :)

    Ebay!!!

I replenished the Peach’s jammies last month by purchasing brand new with tags feetie jammies made by Gymboree and TCP. I didn’t pay more than 10 bucks a pair…which is a great deal. I also picked up 2 or 3 pair made by Carters that are fleece. One pair has no feet and the other 2 are blanket sleepers with feet. She needs size 3T but I saw them in sizes from 3 months all the way up to 5T.

Seriously…check out Ebay and I get both her and the GloWorm clothes that are brand new with Tags (BNWT)all the time there.

oh…yeah I had to turn my furnace on too! Ticked me off. I wanted at least the usual 2 months of windows wide open all day and left open a crack at night. Lower electricity bills were hoped for as well.

So far I’ve only had to turn it on long enough to knock the chill out of the air…but it still disappoints me!
