Shut

My daughter is obsessed with doors.

As soon as she hits the landing at the top of our stairs, or if we’re leaving to go downstairs, the doors must be closed. No matter who’s inside (dog or human) or if the lights are on.

The door must be shut.

If we’re in Eric and I’s, she shuts the bathroom, closet and bedroom door. If we’re in any bedroom, the closets and doors to hallways are closed, too.

She calls the latches buttons, and doors, well, doors. I’m sure if she was tall enough to turn the knob, she’d be opening them, too.

It’s WEIRD. But cute, of course. We just roll our eyes at her.

Your babies doing anything silly lately?

Jaxson is obsessed with the bathroom. He stands by the toilet paper roll and hits it until he has unrolled a bunch of paper and then sits on the floor and rips it apart. He also loves to bang on the toilet (lid down of course) and he will get behind the door and push it shut. We now keep the bathroom doors closed but I think this entices him even more because if he catches us leaving it open accidentally he runs there as fast as his little feet with take him. Santa could bring him a pack of toilet paper for Christmas and he would be the happiest little boy in the whole world!

I don’t think any of us have the time to sit here and read the list of all the silly stuff Eirinn does. She is beyond silly. She is a certifiable Silly Billy Goat. I’ll just give you a sampling of the craziness that happens at our place on a daily basis:

    - she walks around with a backpack on her head for hours
    - she has started to eat dinner with one foot on the table; her legs are so short she is practically doing the splits to get it up there
    - you know the ‘Fat Man in a Little Coat’ dance from Tommy Boy? She does that in front of the mirror while bouncing on our bed
    - she wears one of my purses around her neck and bangs on it like it’s a drum and she’s in a marching band

    And I think that’s all I’ll say. I wouldn’t want anyone to think she’s weird or anything…

Mine isn’t at the age that he is doing silly things, but rather saying funny things…
The other day on the way to work he mentioned how the roads were ‘treacherous’ and to drive carefully… I was like what the heck??? You’re 4! Where did you hear THAT word? There are wayyyy more but I can’t post them here!

ever hear of someone doing an ‘air guitar’?

my Caity “air sucks” her thumb…

If she’s tired and wants to go to sleep, we put her in her crib. She lies on her side and tucks her arm in and puts her wrist near her mouth and starts sucking. Her mouth is doing all the movements of thumb sucking but she doesn’t have anything in her mouth, hence “air suck” …

It’s very cute … and silly.

My son is obsessed with walking on certain color floor tiles in the shopping malls!!!! Cute at first, but he looks down while he’s doing it. I just spend the whole time saying “Sorry” to everyone he darts in front of. Side note; people don’t find a kid’s antics in the mall cute during this Christmas rush!!

Same thing with doors in our house! She closes all the closets and bedroom doors. She can open the ones with lever handles.
