The Bribery Photo Contest: Voting starts today!
We have a poll! We have the fabulously embarrassing photos! Now it’s up to you.
To even the playing field, there is an IP tracker built into this doohickey — which means you can only vote once. It’s not fool-proof, I’m sure, but the point is to prevent vote stacking. What it also does it make it very difficult for those of you who entered more than one photo and more than one child. You’ll have to pick your favourite. Uh-oh…
The good news is that voting will be live from Mon. March 31-Wed. April 2. So you have three days for you, your friends, family and co-workers to log on here and vote (although ask your co-workers to vote from home, ’cause only one person can vote from each IP address, remember?)
Winners announced Thursday.
Remember what’s up for grabs? Custom photo sessions with two local professional photographers, Sarah of Studio Casamento and Mike of MJP Photography, plus a $50 Henry’s gift card from the Oshawa Centre. See details here.
Got all that? Ready to vote? Click below to see the poll and cast your ballot.
Photos are listed by title, in order of their random appearance on the flickr page.

BTW, if one is really determined, there isn’t anything stopping you from voting at various locations, eg: work AND home.
Not that I’m condoning that. At all. Just pretend you never saw this.
ah … you’re assuming our firewalls will let us vote while at work …
stoopid firewalls!
I don’t like how we have to try so hard to get a few votes but then even if you get a lot they will all be erased on Thursday and you have to bug people for votes all over again!!!!
It’s a lot of work lol.
For those of you who are on a proxy server which would be set by the firewall or your IT people at work, you can get around by using a proxy bypass site like
http://www.anonymousproxy.ca/free-proxy/
in the black bar cut and paste (all on one line)
http://durhamregionbaby.com/2008/03/the-bribery-photo-contest-voting-starts-today/#more-935
and hit the big red button.
This will get you around most firewall proxies.
I know because I blog at work and work for a huge financial reinsurance firm and it took a couple of tries to get around their “corporate systems”.

Carly …
I could only vote once yesterday - today it’s not letting me. It wouldn’t let me vote last night at home either … how am I supposed to vote for my favourite pic and somehow compete against all those other votes???????? This doesn’t seem to be working very well.
The only thing I see on my page is the voting results … no button today to vote.
lol even the free-proxy site is filtered at my work!
STOOPID FIREWALLS aaarrghhh!!
I guess they really just want us to work or something … lol
Carly - I have run into the same problem as DoodlesMom - was able to vote Monday, but today all I can see are the results. The little voting buttons are all gone. This whole process must be making you tear your hair out!!!!
Thinking of you, with love and best wishes as you struggle with this issue.
Hey Carly, I was also unable to press vote from my computer today at home. I’m still an “at-home” home but I thought we could vote once per day from the same computer?
Don’t mean to drive you bonkers!

Also, if you are using IE, click on TOOLS
Click on INTERNET OPTIONS
Click on the CONNECTIONS tab
Click on LAN settings in the CONNECTIONS window
Uncheck the Proxy Server setting
Click ok
Try again. I am pretty sure you should be able to access Durham Region Baby, why any IT mutt or corporate systems would add this to the proxy list is beyond me seeing as it doesn’t have wordpress or any other blogging software in its domain.
