The Bribery Photo Contest
We all have embarrassing photos of our kids. My very favourite ones of Lucy, so far, include her nekkid arse poking out of a dog kennel, and another of her gnawing on a wrapped tampon. You can be sure I will share these with her future dates. Because what other right do we have as parents than to embarrass the hell out of our children?
Durham Region Baby is looking for your most embarrassing pics, the ones you’re holding on to to bribe your kids with, in The Bribery Photo Contest. This our second annual contest — see The Ugly Baby Clothes Contest here — but bigger and better.
- The grand prize is a $600 photo package from Bowmanville professional photographer Sarah of Studio Casamento. It includes a photo session, images on high resolution CD, 10×20 portrait collage, and 7×7 custom-designed album.
- Second prize is a $170 photo package from Whitby professional photographer Mike of MJP Photography (read his blog here, too). It includes a portrait session at the winner’s house or park in Durham Region, an online proof gallery and slideshow, and an 8×10 and 11×14 print.
- Third place is a $50 gift card from Henry’s in the Oshawa Centre
I’m still stunned at the prizes, and oh-so jealous I can’t win. Hmph.
This year you, the readers, will be judges. You’ll be able to vote for the top three entries, then again to determine first, second and third place.

- Contest opens Monday, March 3
- Contest closes Friday March 28
- Winners will be determined by readers in two rounds of online voting: One round to determine the top three entries, then a second round to pick first, second and third place
- We welcome all entries, but only residents of Ontario willing to travel to Durham Region for photography sessions are eligible for first and second place. The Henry’s gift card is good at any store in Canada, and online
- There is no limit to the number of photos you can enter
- Feel free to enter you or your spouse or your neighbour — as long as you have permission
- No frontal nudity, please
- By entering the contest, you give permission for Durham Region Baby to upload your photo(s) to our public gallery at flickr and online at Durham Region Baby
- Please email jpg format photos to info@durhamregionbaby.com with subject line Bribery Photo Contest
- Entries MUST include: first and last name (only first will be used online), location, and short description of the photo, including age of child
- Durham Region Baby reserves the right to edit descriptions for clarity and length
