Life, lately

  • Every so often, when the workload reaches epic proportions, I go into this…hedgehog-like roll where I pull an imaginary blanket over my head and can’t do any work.brooks_farms_fun.jpg That Voice in my head screams about deadlines and missed opportunities and still a day will flit on by with nothing accomplished. It’s incredibly frustrating. And seems to only have developed since working from home — because, I think, there is only Spencer Dog, the most lack boss ever. Does this happen to anyone else?
  • Shelby is at camp this week, so Eric’s Mom is (thankfully) here to look after Lucy. The hooting and hollering from the basement indicates all is going well so far. We’ll take a status re-check after three days and may have a slightly different story, when the novelty of “Gramie! I pet you!” might havespencer_chalk.jpg dimmed a bit…
  • Eric is at my parents’ today, doing some outside paint prep work. After so many weeks of him in the house and easily accessible in the form of perfectly-made tea and Google chat, I feel a bit lost.
  • Have you also enjoyed three whole days with no rain?! Hallelujah!
  • Last night for dinner we had free-range chicken, and organically- locally-grown carrots, onions and potatoes. Also a delicious homemade apple cake made with farmer’s market fruit. So the buns may have come from a tin (did you know multigrain Crescenthiding.jpg Rolls have no trans fat?!). Everything was mouth watering. Three cheers for local food!
  • Trips to the bathroom last night: 3. It has begun.
  • Saturday night I accidentally told Eric’s brother (Uncle Stinky) and wife (Auntie Jenni) the baby’s name, in this sentence: “We’re working on ______’s room.” It just fell off my tongue. Dammit.
  • This morning, on the phone with the vet’s office: “My husband just dropped off a stool sample. It has Spencer andhiding_reveal.jpg my names on it. But — haha! — it’s not my sample, of course.” Receptionist: *silence* OK, I thought it was funny…
  • Salad spinner as dolly thrill ride: What a genius idea. We’re so trying this after nap today.
  • This is Lucy “hiding,” then yelling, “Peeeeeeek!:”

Don’t worry the Baby’s name is safe with us - we won’t tell a soul. No matter how much anyone tries to get us to tell them. :)

Hilarious! The only way I can keep a secret is to not know it in the first place. Because of that we haven’t picked a baby’s name yet. I tell everyone that my husband is choosing this time, and hopefully he is. Only 3 weeks left, he better get thinking … :)
