Giveaway: Sweet cupcake treats

FTLOC_DIRECTORY.jpg

Have you ever tasted something that quite literally makes your eyes close and roll up behind the lids? A piece of food that the mere thought of makes your mouth water?

I’m not a big cake eater. But Siobhan’s cupcakes did this for my entire family.

Look at these lovelies:

Look at the detail!

She made these just for Eric, who loves jets

We all ate the icing first, although Lucy was a bit more overt about it

Moist, airy, not-too-sweet. Siobhan makes this to-die-for buttercream frosting, and homemade fondant, which she molds into the shapes you see. This winter she also started baking mini cakes to the detriment of waistlines everywhere. But the tastebuds are going nutty with flavours like classic vanilla and chocolate, and spiced apple and walnut for the more adventurous.

She lives in Ajax with her two sons and hubby, works a day job, then bakes. She’s a rockstar. If you ever need some special treats for a birthday, wedding, or party of any sort, think of her, and check out her website at For the Love of Cupcakes (you should pop over there just to see the gallery of deliciousness. There are sheep cupcakes, people. Sheep!).

Because we need to share the love of cupcakes at Durham Region Baby, I have a half dozen Valentine’s or floral ones to give away to a lucky reader. Check out Siobhan’s site and leave a comment with your favourite creation. We’ll pick a winner tomorrow.

Happy drooling!

The sheep are far too cute to eat. But I think my fave is the little strawberry one. Or the mini-ladybug (in fondant?) one. Adorable!

I can certainly appreciate people in the cake business a whole lot more after recently making 48 Cookie Monster Cupcakes for my little boys 2nd birthday this past weekend. And I have another dozen or so to make for tomorrow night. A lot of work goes into these. I must have spent 6 hours making mine. And although they turned out well, they didn’t look like these! Kudos to for “For the Love of…” to make such beautiful creations, raise a family and work! My favourite from the site are the sheep as well. They are adorable. Closely followed by the ones with little strawberries on the top.

I am currently taking a cake decorating class @ Michaels in Oshawa and I am on maternity leave. I am finding it hard to cope with all the daily chores, including taking care of my 4mth old daughter. I applaud you for you dedication to your business especially since you work all day and take care of your family and then try to fit in baking. Wow I hope I will be as organized as you once I get back to work. My favourite is the lady bug cupcake.

    Well done

Amazing job Siobhan! You are very talented. My daughter has chosen the cake with the monkey for her little brother’s first birthday! Plus, she wants mom to make these cupcakes for our afternoon activity. I’m not that talented. I love all the floral cupcakes. What could be better than a bouquet of cupcakes to put a smile on someone’s face. Thank you for sharing your talents.

The sheep ones, definitely! I was all psyched to have dozens of cute pink frosted mini cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday. I am a huge cupcake fan and the ones on Siobhan’s website look fabulous – I haven’t had really yummy ones since I lived in Vancouver so I was super excited about trying “for the love of cupcakes” Unfortunately our plans for the party have changed :(
